Reno Cigar Lions Computers for Kids Program

The Reno Cigar Lions Club (RCL) was established in June, 2006 as a Branch Club
to the Reno Host Lions (RHL). RCL's focus project is to procure, refurbish and
distribute – at no cost - computers (with open source operating system, browser
and office productivity software) through sponsoring organizations such as non-
profits, schools and churches for "Cyber Community Centers" and to qualifying
young people seeking to further their education.

Recipients of computers from the Computers for Kids Program include young
people in the K - 16 age group currently residing within the Truckee Meadows,
students of an accredited Nevada school (including home schooled or church
school), students seeking alternative education opportunities (GED, etc.) and
young people and students meeting the above criteria who cannot otherwise afford
to purchase computers for themselves. Participants must be sponsored by a non-
profit, church, youth or education group. The sponsoring organization selects
qualifying students/young people and monitors participation in RCL's Computers
for Kids project.

Current sponsors and/or participants in RCL's Computers for Kids project include
(but are not limited to): Reno Cigar Lions, Reno Host Lions, Charter
